Sustainability of the global environment is a prerequisite for business continuity. By contributing to the conservation of the global environment (e.g. responding to climate change, reducing food loss, and addressing the problem of waste plastic), we meet the expectations of our stakeholders and strengthen our foundations as a business. To contribute to the conservation of the global environment, we will engage in environmental initiatives through our business activities, guided by the five material issues we have identified.

We commit to environmental management across the Prima Meat Packers Group, guided by our Sustainability Basic Policy and Prima Meat Packers Group Environmental Policy. Our organizational framework for environmental management includes the Environment Subcommittee, a subcommittee of the Sustainability Committee. The Environment Subcommittee’s membership comprises division heads and other important members of staff at Prima Meat Packers and representatives from Prime Delica, which operates 12 plants. The organizational framework also includes the Environment Committee, which predates the Environment Subcommittee. Mainly comprises members of Prima Meat Packer’s senior management, the Environment Committee develops and facilitates policies on environmental management.

Our main workplaces in Japan are certified to ISO 14001 (the ISO’s standard for environmental management systems) and to Eco Action 21 (an equivalent standard run by the Ministry of the Environment of Japan), and we are working to get more workplaces certified.

In fiscal 2023, no financial penalties were imposed on any company of Prima Meat Packers Group for a violation of environmental legislation.
